Cleaning the Blender
Add a few drops of detergent, fill halfway with hot
water, and turn on blender for a moment. Rinse and dry.
The Breadboard
Rub a cut lime over the surface of a cutting or
breadboard to remove onion, garlic, or fish smell.
Broken Eggs
If you drop an egg on the floor, generously sprinkle
salt over it and let it stand for 5 to 10 minutes. Sweep
the dried egg into a dustpan.
Cleaning up Broken Glass
Sweep large pieces into a dustpan, pick up slivers
with a damp paper towel.
Burnt Food in Pan
Boil water in the pan to loosen food. Or sprinkle
baking soda generously over the burned food and moisten
with water. Let stand for few hours.
Electric Can Opener
Run a paper towel through the cutter to clean the
blades.
Iron Skillets
Use commercial oven cleaner for the outside of the
pan--let it stand for several hours and wipe off grime.
Rub oil inside the pan to season it.
Copperware
Clean copper cookware with toothpaste and rinse.
Enamelware
Fill a dish that contains stuck food bits with
boiling water and 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Let it
stand and wash out.
Dishwasher
Run a cup of white vinegar through the entire cycle
in an empty dishwasher to remove soap film
Clogged Drain
To a grease-clogged drain, pour a cup of salt and
baking soda followed by a boiling kettle of water. This
will generally open the drain.
Glass Vases
Dampen the interior of a glass vase and sprinkle with
any toilet bowl cleaner. After 10 minutes, wipe clean.
Cleaning the Grater
Brush off cheese, onion etc. from the grater with a
pastry brush, then wash.
Cleaning the Oven
Immediately after a spill, sprinkle with salt. Brush
off burnt food when the oven is cool. Clean the glass
oven window with a cloth dipped in baking soda.
Plastic ware
Use baking soda to remove tea or coffee stains from
plastic cups
Aluminum Pans
Boil water and some white vinegar in aluminum pans
which have dark stains inside them.
Cleaning the Refrigerator
Wash the refrigerator inside and out with mixture of
3 tablespoons of baking soda in a quart of warm water.
Refrigerator Odor
A cotton ball soaked with vanilla or an open box of
baking soda set on the lower shelf of the refrigerator
will eliminate odor.
Clean Sink
Saturate paper towels with household bleach and lay
in the bottom off your porcelain sink for 30 minutes to
remove stains.
Stainless Steel Sinks
Remove spots on stainless steel sinks with white
vinegar. Use carbonated water to add shine.
Clean Sponges
Wash in your dishwasher or soak overnight in salt
water or baking soda added to water.
Teapot Cleaning
Fill the kettle with equal parts of water and
vinegar, bring to a boil, and let it stand overnight to
remove deposits of lime.
Cleaning the Thermos
Fill the bottle with warm water, add 1 teaspoon of
baking soda, and soak
Pie Pans
Remove rust from tin pie pans by scouring with a raw
potato dipped in cleanser.
